Today is, sadly, our last day in Greece. We had almost a full day before leaving for the airport and so walked and walked and walked. There was a Byzantine church that I stopped in and managed to sneak a picture.

Next we went to the Ladadika to see it during the daytime. It used to be the old Jewish quarter and has since been renovated and converted into a trendy area full of nightlife.

We then wandered over to the waterfront. When we went to the Photography Museum of Thessaloniki a few days ago, we noticed the Thessaloniki Film Museum. There is an annual Thessaloniki International Film Festival and so it befits there is a film museum.

The museum is a must see if you love cinema. It traces the evolution of the film industry in Greece with films and it is all subtitled in English. In film classes in America we learn about Italian, French, Czech, Swedish, Russian, Polish, and German film but not Greek - so we knew nothing about its rich history. By the time we saw the entire museum we had to head to go to the hotel, get our bags, and go to the airport. We walked through the Mpit Bazaar where we had dinner last night and there was no trace of the hundreds of people eating and drinking there the night before. The only people about were a group of men playing cards.

On the way we stopped at Chatzis patisserie again for a mystery sweet that when unwrapped and bit into was a gourmet KitKat. We also got the love child of a baklava and eclair which we took home with us for a piece of Thessaloniki in Amsterdam.
